Hurco brought the spirit of Indianapolis, the location of the company’s worldwide headquarters since its founding in 1968, to McCormick Place for IMTS 2016.
Since Indianapolis is home to the single largest one-day sporting event, the Indianapolis 500, we created a scaled down version of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Visitors to our booth raced RC IndyCars around the track and those who visited us onTuesday had the chance to race IndyCar owner/driver Ed Carpenter. Hurco is a proud sponsor of Ed Carpenter Racing (ECR), which is also based out of Indianapolis.

Mike Cope Interview
Mike Cope, Hurco Product Technical Specialist, was interviewed about Hurco 5-axis technology. Hurco introduced a new 5-axis design at IMTS: the VC600i, which is a cantilever 5-axis machine. The Hurco booth featured an entire 5-axis quadrant to showcase the broad line of 5-axis machines and the control technology that makes the transition to 5-sided (3+2) process easy for shops who are want to increase profit margin on existing parts. Download this interactive worksheet to see how this transition will make your business more profitable.
The race to profitability at the Hurco booth not only included machines and CNC technologies that will make your business more productive and profitable, but a chance to race RC IndyCars on a replica of the most famous oval track in the world. Hurco is proud to be an Indianapolis company: home to the greatest spectacle in racing. A big thank you to all of the visitors who took time out to have some fun and show off their driving skills at the Hurco booth.

Whether you call it a milling machine, a CNC machining center, or a machine tool, Hurco has the right CNC equipment to make your business more profitable. We have expanded our product categories to serve our customers requests for the integrated Hurco control on a specific type of CNC machine.
Inventing and implementing technology for our integrated machine control that makes customers more productive and more profitable is the foundation of what we do at Hurco. This year, we have several technologies and demos of the MAX5 Control.
AdaptiPath This new conversational, high-speed, pocketing feature has the same technology found in high-end CAD/CAM packages. AdaptiPath increases metal removal rates, reduces cycle time, and extends tool life due to controlled engagement cutting technology.
Job List: Intuitive, user-friendly feature that lets you group files together and run them sequentially without operator intervention. Promotes automation, lights-out machining, program stitching, file bundling, and adaptive processes.
Thread Repair: Instead of re-machining the entire workpiece, Thread Repair let you easily rework worn or damaged threads.
WinMax 3D Printing Capability: With the Hurco control, you can print a conversational program from the WinMax control to a 3D printer for prototyping.
UltiMotion: While UltiMotion isn't new, we continue to hear from customers how well it is performing. When we launched UltiMotion, we wanted to be conservative and say "up to 30% reduction in cycle time" because the amount of time you save with UltiMotion ultimately depends upon the complexity of the part: the more complex the part, the bigger impact UltiMotion has in reducing cycle time. Available on Hurco 3-axis and 5-axis mills, this motion system benefits both NC and conversational programs. It's not the same as smoothing features you might have in your CAM package.
Hurco is an American company (Nasdaq: HURC) with global reach. Based in Indianapolis, Hurco engineers have been inventing technology that makes machinists more productive and job shops more profitable since 1968. We build CNC machines that are equipped with the MAX control powered by WinMax® software. The Hurco control is the most flexible in the industry because it is equally powerful whether you use conversational or Industry Standard NC programming…or you can use the best of both with Hurco’s NC/Conversational Merge feature.
Although Hurco is officially listed as a global machine tool builder, the technology we develop is what makes our customers more productive and makes their businesses more profitable. Manufacturing equipment that makes machinists more productive and shops more profitable has been the core purpose of Hurco since 1968 when Edward Humston and Gerald Roch founded the company in Indianapolis. Mr. Roch grew up around machining and knew there was a way that the emerging computer technology could make machine shops more efficient.
Fast forward to today. Mr. Roch was right and his dream has been realized: Hurco designs and builds CNC machines that make our customers more profitable because of the control technology we develop. The operating system of our MAX5 control, called WinMax®, lets our customers program parts faster so they can manufacture those parts more efficiently. While our CNC machines are found in Fortune 500 companies, such as Caterpillar, GM, GE, and Google, most of our customers are family-owned job shops that manufacture a high mix of parts in small to medium batches for many different industries. For them, making more chips is critical. Time spent programming and setting up the part cuts into profit margins.
Learn MoreTo meet our obligation to help these manufacturing entrepreneurs increase profit margins, we have developed a set of core competencies as an organization that we continue to foster.
